This species is dedicated to Professor Soleil Wamuini Lunkayilakio of the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique de Mbanza-Ngungu, to acknowledge his great contribution to the sampling effort in the area, which resulted in the discovery of the new species, and to recognize him as one of the first Congolese ichthyologists (Ref. 121662).
